Description

A Dan Smith Stratocaster from 1982, an important time in Fenders history. These models were only produced for one year between late 81 and very early 83. They were the result of Fender making a huge effort to get back to making high quality, playable guitars after the disasterous years at the end of the 70s had savaged their reputation. The Dan Smith strats are so named due to Dan taking a pivotal role in the Fender company at the time and working to massively overhaul their production methods. They are also known as the very first ‘American Standards’ although they are quite a different beats from the ‘Standards’ that came around in the mid to late eighties.

This example remains in original condition and is actually a very playable and lovely guitar. Similar in some ways to a late 70s Strat but with a nice slim neck, deep contours, a four bolt fixing and a much finer standard of finish and workmanship.

A well used example, plenty of scuffs and marks associated with playing and gigging. The original frets are level and dressed but well worn. Some repairs to cracked lacquer have taken place on the neck / figer board edges. Very playable and sounds great. A good solid investment if kept original.
