Fender Stratocaster American Standard 1988 John Cruz

A superb find! The original owner of this guitar brought it in having given up playing a number of years ago. He bought it new in 1989 from a shop in London, he went for this colour because he was a huge Clapton fan. He has barely played it! Sat in the case most of its life and therefore remains in amazing condition. Only very light marks in the finish, no dings or dents, very clean indeed. He'd never even taken it apart, so we were the first to undo the screws since it was made. The frets are as new and the guitar plays like a dream, we've cleaned it up and polished the frets and given it a basic set up and it really is a lovely instrument. This is one of the very early USA standards from the Corona factory, they began rolling off the production line in 1986 and were a large effort on behalf of Fender to re establish their name in terms of quality and specification. This one features the addition of a John Cruz neck stamp! At the time he was a young production line employee for Fender and the significance of his name stamps came later after he gained a reputation for being Fenders number one master builder. A great sounding guitar in very collectible condition from a key era in Fenders history. It's hard to imagine that these 'recent' modern models from Fender are now nearing 35 years old! It's fair to say that the Fender Stratocaster is to guitars what the Hohner Special 20 is to harmonicas! A classic instrument that has stood the test of time and looks set to continue it's ruling status of electric guitars!
