Fender Stratocaster Custom Shop 65 Relic Pre Owned

Unusual to come accross a 65 Relic but in 2019 the Custom Shop released these superb 65 Relics with a period correct vintage fret board radius and smaller frets. While I usually prefer the more modern 9.5 / medium jumbo set up this works really well due to the 65 neck shape. In fact this Strat is super comfy to play. While there are always plenty of late 50s and early 60s reissue Relics around it's not often I come accross these 'transition logo' Strats. This one represents the very end of the pre CBS era and has a few little features that set it apart from the usual 1960 - 63 Relics. The neck shape, mother of pearl side fret markers and of course the logo. The finish is interesting too, marked on the traveller document as a 'Very narrow band 3TS' The idea being to emulate a real 65 three tone sunburst that would have had most of the red in the finish fade due to UV light exposure. This was common on real 65 Strats due to the red pigments in the paints not being very UV proof. So it's a very convincing Relic. Like most of the Fender Custom Shop Strats I have this is a wonderful guitar. This one remains in superb condition. The original owner uprated the nut but the original is included. There's strap lock strap buttons with the corresponding fitments in the Fender Strap that's in the case.
