Fender 1979-81 Stratocaster Hardtail

We are delighted to have found this late 70s - early 80s Strat in original condition with original case. This was bought from the son of the original owner who was liquidating some of his father’s assets after his death. The guitar was bought new by him and seemingly barely used. It comes in the original case and still has the original ashtray bridge cover. We've opened this one up and sadly there is no exact date, the serial number begins S9 so it could in theory be from 1978 - 81. It's nice to find a rosewood board Strat from this era in a three-tone sunburst finish, as so much of the production from this era was natural / maple which did look very plain and boring. Typical for this time the guitar is heavy, with a slimish / medium D neck profile and a thick glossy finish. This example plays beautifully, we've given it a full set up and it plays and sounds wonderful now. As with all things Fender the value of these has risen hugely in the last few years. This one is about as collectible as they come. One thing to note is that the serial number sticker on the scratch plate inside doesn't match the headstock serial number. This is perfectly normal for Stats of this era, some online research will quickly confirm this to be the case. In fact, when we opened this up the screws were all super tight, it really felt like it was the first time they'd ever been taken out. The condition is amazing, a few marks here and there but no damage or bad scuffs and certainly one of the cleanest 70s Strats we've seen in ages.
