Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 1955 Journeyman Relic – Sonic Blue – Pre Owned

Another superb offering from the Fender Custom Shop. This late 2017 Strat captures the perfect balance between an authentic vintage vibe and modern playability with it’s medium jumbo frets and 9.5 radius. Like many of the very recent custom shop guitars this one has a superb resonance, really lovely wood has been used and it sounds great as a result. The Relic work on these more recent models is also far more authentic than earlier editions. The playability and sound of this Strat is as good as it looks, quite addictive to play actually. The neck is a very light V shape, fairly chunky and has gloss lacquer finishing. The V really isn’t that pronounced. Also listed on the spec sheet is ‘Lots of dirt in cracking’ which refers to the lovely checking on the sonic blue body. It looks exremely authentic. This one has a superb pickup combination of Fat 50s in the neck and middle position with a texas special in the bridge. Also listed on the spec sheet as having ‘lots of fingerboard wear’ which suggests it was a dealer select or custom order. A lovely spec model that looks, sounds and plays the part. Today the new price for this model is in the region of £3500 or more for a custom order. This superb condition example is priced well at £2799.
